Martin Davey

Background in contracts management with the NHS and Somerset County Council. Support Service Manager at the Priory Hospital, Bristol, Registered with CQC and Home Office as authorised manager for controlled drugs. Priory Group Health and Safety Coordinator for the South West, `Midlands and Wales regions. Over 30 years' experience as a Governor in Primary and Secondary Schools. Current Governor at The Kings of Wessex Academy.

Brian Kirkup (Chair of Wessex Learning Trust)

Former secondary Headteacher. Previously Headteacher at Churchill Community School and Sixth Form from 1991 to 2001 (Ofsted 1997 Good). Executive Headship of Clevedon Community School following the school being placed into special measures from January to August 2004. Experience of secondary school leadership and school improvement. Chair of Governors at The Kings of Wessex Academy. Director and Board Chairman of subsidiary trading company Kings Fitness and Leisure.

Rev Richard Neill (Foundation Member)

Vicar of the Benefice of the Isle of Wedmore (parishes of Wedmore, Theale, Blackford and Allerton) since 2008. One of the main foci of Richardís ministry has always been the schools. He has been a Governor of Hugh Sexey Middle School throughout his time in this area, currently chairing the Teaching and Learning Committee; he enjoys a good relationship with Wedmore First School; and he also takes regular assemblies at The Kings of Wessex and oversees the work of the Christian Leader there on behalf of the local churches. Richard is also a parent of daughters at The Kings of Wessex Academy and Hugh Sexey Middle School.

Richard Oliver

Former Police Officer with 30 years' service with Avon and Somerset Police. Background in traffic policing. Involvement in a number of high profile investigations. Investigator for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. Board member of Mendip YMCA with oversight of health and safety. Over 20 years' experience as a Governor in Middle and Secondary schools. Vice Chair of Governors at The Kings of Wessex Academy and Chair of Teaching and Learning Subcommittee. Director of subsidiary trading company Kings Fitness and Leisure.

Charlie Ainge

Owns and runs a mixed arable dairy farm on the Somerset Levels. Member of Somerset Drainage Board Consortium. Previously Chairman of Country Landowners Association National Committee for Business and Rural economy. 10 years' experience as part time rural lobbyist focusing on EU funding streams and agricultural policy. Ran a rural consultancy business and formerly Higher Education Business Management Lecturer. Current Governor at Weare Academy First School.

Rev John Angle (Foundation Director)

Retired Rector and former Secondary Deputy Headteacher. 30 years' teaching experience in Harrogate, North Wales and Bristol. Previously non-stipendiary minister in Clevedon and Worle and stipendiary Rector of Camelot (nine parishes in South Somerset). Former member of the Diocesan Board of Education and Wells Archdeaconry Warden of Readers. Previous experience as an Ofsted inspector and currently SIAMs inspector for the Diocese of Bath and Wells. Current Governor at The Kings of Wessex Academy.

Gillian Briggs

Former Primary Headteacher. Previously Headteacher at Axbridge First School from 1998 to 2010. (Ofsted 2004 Outstanding). Former primary adviser and Ofsted inspector. Professional tutor working with trainee teachers on the Somerset SCITT PGCE course. Experience of primary school leadership, school improvement and initial teacher training. Current Governor and Pupil Premium champion at The Kings of Wessex Academy.

Alan Davies

Chartered Civil Engineer. Experience working in various senior management positions at Bristol Airport Ltd latterly as Planning and Environment Director. Previously worked for BAA plc on design and project management of major infrastructure and terminal developments at Stansted, Heathrow, Gatwick and Glasgow airports. Current Chair of Governors at East Brent First School.

Sheridan Flavin

Director of Human Resources at Weston Area Health NHS Trust and Board Member. Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development. Experience of all aspects of HR management, including recruitment, contracts, pay, grievance and disciplinary matters. Former Chair of Governors and current Governor at Lympsham First School.

Sue Moreman (Foundation Director)

Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) with significant financial, business and management skills including Price Waterhouse and at London Stock Exchange plc. Experience of company restructuring and dissolution at London School of Economics and non-audit experience included managing the pre-disposal due diligence and subsequent special purpose work for the sale of British Alcan's non-core UK operations worth approximately £200m. Tanya Raynes

Qualified Chartered Accountant. Managing Director for Bristol Flying Centre Limited a circa £12million turnover company undergoing significant change and growth within a complex regulatory framework. Has a wide range of business skills including strategy, operational and project management, legal and HR. Former Governor at Wedmore First School Academy.

Gareth Smith

Business Development background with responsibility for a sales and development team of 40 managers with control of an annual budget of £1.4million. Board experience in a FTSE company with a turnover of £2.2billion per annum. Company Director of a Charity called Creativity Works, an arts based organisation responsible for developing Art to help in healthcare matters.
