Martin Davey

Background in contracts management with the NHS and Somerset County Council. Support service manager at the Priory Hospital, Bristol, Registered with CQC and Home Office as authorised manager for controlled drugs. Priory Group Health and Safety Coordinator for the South West, Midlands and Wales regions. Over 30 years' experience as a governor in Primary and Secondary Schools. Current governor at The Kings of Wessex Academy.

Brian Kirkup (Chair of Wessex Learning Trust)

Former secondary Headteacher. Previously Headteacher at Churchill Community School and Sixth from 1991 to 2001 (Ofsted 1997 Good). Executive Headship of Cleveland Community School following the school being placed into special measures from January to August 2004. Experience of secondary school leadership and school improvement. Current chair of governors at The Kings of Wessex Academy. Director and Board Chairman of subsidiary trading company Kings Fitness and Leisure.

Rev Richard Neill (Foundation Member)

In parish ministry for twenty three years and a school governor for sixteen years. Currently the vicar of the Isle of Wedmore churches, a position undertaken since 2008. Has strong links to three of the participating schools and is currently a Governor at Hugh Sexy Middle School.

Richard Oliver

Former police officer with 30 years' service with Avon and Somerset Police. Background in traffic policing. Involvement in a number of high profile investigations. Investigator for the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency. Board member of Mendip YMCA with oversight of health and safety. Over 20 years' experience as a governor in Middle and Secondary schools. Current vice Chair of Governors at The Kings of Wessex Academy and chair of the School Standards and Improvements subcommittee. Director of subsidiary trading company Kings Fitness and Leisure.

Rev John Angle (Foundation Director – Appointed by the Diocese)

Retired rector and former Secondary Deputy Headteacher. 30 years teaching experience in Harrogate, North Wales and Bristol. Previously non stipendiary minister in Clevedon and Worle and stipendiary Rector of Camelot (nine parishes in South Somerset). Former member of the Diocesan Board of Education and Wells Archdeaconry Warden of Readers. Previous experience as an Ofsted inspector and SIAMs inspector for the Diocese of Bath and Wells. Current governor at The Kings of Wessex Academy.

James Colquhoun

Varied public sector experience through a background in leadership and governance of comprehensive schools, some years on the Independent Monitoring Board at HMP Bristol and now on the Council of Governors at RUH Bath. Current role as education consultant (pt) with record of work as a school improvement partner, headteacher network founder and leadership programme coordinator in the South West including Somerset.

Alan Davies

Former Planning and Environment Director at Bristol Airport with 33 years’ experience in planning, design, construction and management of airports. Held various senior management positions with Bristol Airport Ltd and previously worked for BAA plc on design and project management of major infrastructure and terminal developments at Stansted, Heathrow, Gatwick and Glasgow airports. Former director of the North Somerset Enterprise Agency. Chair of the Local Governing Body at East Brent Academy since 2015.

Sheridan Flavin

A professional interim Human Resources Director with over 20 years' experience of working in SMEs and FTSE listed businesses as well as the NHS. Previously a governor and chair of governors in one of the WLT first schools, Sheridan joined the WLT Board and is also a member of the Finance and Human Resource (FHR) sub-committee. Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (FCIPD) and holds a MA in Human Resource Management. Sheridan and her husband John, have two children who both attend a WLT Academy school.

Marie Getheridge

Significant experience of the education sector both as a senior leader but also as the Education Director for a highly successful academy chain. Previous Headteacher of Writhlington Business and Enterprise Specialist School (1995-2011) and the Education Director of the Aldridge Foundation (2010-2013). More recently, a consultant for MMG Education where she has been involved in mentoring and providing strategic support to Headteachers and governing bodies.

Paul Jacobs

Experience as the Service Director of Education and Skills with Bristol City Council and Assistant Director of Learning and Achievement with North Somerset Council. Further extensive school leadership experience gained over main years of working in the education sector. A School Improvement specialist, skilled conveyor of partnerships and leadership coach.

Sue Moreman (Foundation Director – Appointed by the Diocese)

Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) with significant financial, business and management skills including Price Waterhouse and at London Stock Exchange plc. Experience of company restructuring and dissolution at London Stock Exchange and non-audit experience included managing the pre-disposal due diligence and subsequent special purpose work for the sale of British Alcan's non-core UK operations worth approximately £200m. Current Chair of Governors at Hugh Sexey Middle School.

Gareth Smith

After a 20 year career working with a Ftse250 Logistics Company within their Business Development function, Gareth took a career break to look after his young family. During this time Gareth became Chair of the local pre-school playgroup and joined the Governing Body of Hugh Sexey Middle School. Now running his own Business Consultancy working for a number of blue chip clients, Gareth is currently advising the Cabinet Office on matters relating to Central Government’s warehouse portfolio. More recently he has also taken on responsibility within the Wedmore Scout group acting as treasurer and also helps run one of the teams within Wedmore Junior Football Club.

Kevin Walke (Foundation Director – Appointed by the Diocese)

Worked for PwC as Head of Business Management (retired in 2012) and also held the following positions in the partnership: Head of Business Integration, senior consultant, Director of Operations (PwC Global). He also worked for BBC World Service as Office Services and Premises Manager. Since 2017 he has worked as a School Business Manager across a number of Faith schools in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. Current governor at Axbridge First School.

Gareth Woodcock

Chartered Building Surveyor working predominantly in the insurance industry dealing with large and complex losses. Experience and knowledge of construction and project management. Former Governor at Mark First School.
