Brent Knoll Primary School Welcomed to the Wessex Learning Trust Family

This month, the family of Wessex Learning Trust Schools grew one school bigger when they officially welcomed the staff and pupils of Brent Knoll Primary School from 1 April 2019.

Brent Knoll Primary School is for children aged from four to 11 years-old and is based in the western part of the Trust catchment area and is a close neighbour to fellow Trust School, East Brent Church of England Academy. The school currently has 135 pupils on roll over five classes and 23 full and part-time staff.

With this new addition, Wessex Learning Trust is now composed of one Upper School: The Kings of Wessex Academy; Hugh Sexey Middle School in Blackford, Wedmore and seven First/Primary Schools located in Axbridge, East Brent, Lympsham, Mark, Weare and Wedmore.

Brent Knoll Primary School shares many of the same values as the other Trust schools, including fostering a sense of belonging for children and as a Church School is fully supportive of the Christian ethos and values that enrich the lives of children through a Love of Learning, Faith; Respect and Partnerships.

During the transition period, Brent Knoll Headteacher Chris Burman has already been working with Wessex Learning Trust colleagues on all aspects of Trust work and joined-up thinking and said:

"This is an important step for the staff and pupils of Brent Knoll both in the immediate future of the school and in the years to follow and we look forward to our continued working together for the shared purpose of providing a top education for children across the Cheddar Valley."

On behalf of the Wessex Learning Trust, Executive Headteacher Gavin Ball said:

"I am delighted to welcome Brent Knoll Primary School to the Wessex Learning Trust at what is a wonderful point in our combined working together that I know can only serve to strengthen our closer connection and affiliation. I am confident that our Brent Knoll colleagues will greatly enhance our team of dedicated, committed and enthusiastic colleagues who care about children’s education."
